I'm Parisa, a Senior UX Designer based in Washington, D.C., specializing in problem-solving, user research, and product design. I have five years of UX experience, which comes after three years as a graphic designer in the U.S.

My Experience

I bring diverse industry experience in retail, energy, and finance, specializing in designing enterprise and customer-facing applications across multiple platforms, including mobile, tablet, desktop, in-store kiosks, and virtual reality. With two master's degrees in Graphic Design and Project Management with a concentration in Human-Centered Interaction Design, I offer a solid educational foundation. In my recent role at Duke Energy, I led end-to-end UX design processes, from concept to execution, conducting user research, creating user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and facilitating usability testings.

About Me

Outside of work, I’m an artist and enjoy doing live figure drawing and painting. I have been into art and painting since a very young age. I started painting when I was 3 and never stopped. My dad is an artist, and he always encouraged me to follow my passion.

I have a cat named Panda, which takes up a big part of my life. I have had her since she was 4 months old, and now she’s been part of the family for the past 4 years.

When I’m not working, I very much enjoy traveling and exploring new places. Visiting new cities and countries opens my eyes and helps me see life from new perspectives. I moved to the US in 2016, and it has taught me a lot in life. It taught me how to be flexible and open to meeting new people. This pushed me to find friends outside of my comfort zone and taught me how to be open to different perspectives and ideas.

More About Me

I studied painting for my bachelor’s degree, and since then, my passion for art has never disappeared. I have explored various forms of art, including painting, sculpture, murals, and photography. Additionally, I delved into animation careers such as art direction, character design, animation, and storyboarding for a while. During my undergraduate studies, I briefly worked at an animation studio, where I gained valuable experience. This exploration helped me find my passion and focus on a career path that involves problem-solving, research, and design.

After graduating in 2010, I began my career as a graphic designer, initially working at a magazine office before transitioning to the marketing and advertising sector. I worked as a graphic designer in my home country, Tehran, Iran, for about five years before deciding to attend graduate school in the U.S. to further improve my design skills.

Enrolling in graduate studies helped me gain new perspectives and opportunities to explore areas of interest. It was during my first master's program that I discovered user experience design and realized it was the path I wanted to pursue. I am passionate about this field because it blends research, problem-solving, and creativity. Being part of a team that solves user problems feels like solving a complex puzzle, which excites and challenges me.
